Depending upon the degree and type of disease, periodontal treatments will vary. After our dentist and dental hygienist have evaluated your teeth for periodontal disease, they will recommend treatment as appropriate.

What causes Periodontal and Gum Disease?

When the pocket between the gums and the tooth (the sulcus) becomes full of tartar, plaque, and bacteria, it causes irritation to the gums. This is called periodontal disease. Damage to the gums and the jawbone can occur if these irritants stay in the pocket space.The word periodontal literally means “around the tooth.”
